BongOz Films started its journey with the much acclaimed Bengali film Zulfiqar on 15th October 2016. Since then, we never looked back and continued bringing in reputed Bengali films and screening in all major cities of Australia. We have expanded our network to Sweden and about to explore more places in Europe and Asia Pacific. We have ties with big names like Jaaz, SVF, Bengal, Eskay, Abhi Kathachitra, Nokkhotro Chalachita, Friend Communication and many more production houses. We also assist in conceptualizing marketing and promotional activities for businesses. Our vision is to be long term partners for production houses and establish regular screening of Bengali Cinema.
Taneem Mannan - The Initiator
Taneem Mannan has a degree in applied physics and telecom engineering from University of Dhaka. And MBA from IBA. He always had a nag for acting but never had the courage to become a pro. Taneem moved to Australia in 2015 under skilled migration and so did the movie bug in his head. He started dreaming to screen Bengali Films here in Australia. Thanks to his wife's consistent support and encouragement from friends, he formed BongOz Films and screened much acclaimed Bengali Film Zulfiqar. After Zulfiqar, the audience kept asking about his next project. He needed to develop a strong relationship with the production houses. This is when friend and ex-colleage Shafin Azam also stepped in to Australia as a skilled immigrant.
Shafin Azam - The Influencer
Ifthekhar Azam, a true communication and public relation professional with over 12 years of experience from emerging telecom markets. He has specialisation in the field of marketing communication with complex industry experience, worked within very highly competitive markets, built high-performing units from the ground up, and led large-scale, complex strategies and campaigns. He possess broad-reaching experience working for global organizations. He has proven expertise and broad-reaching background to play a meaningful role in the capacity of a communications professional.Graduated concentrating Marketing, focusing media and development communication, Ifthekhar has spent ten years at Vimpelcom (Banglalink), Bangladesh’s 2nd- largest mobile telecom operator in various capacities within marketing department. He was also selected as top 50 key resources of Vimplecom and was posted to one of their key subsidiaries in Cambodia for interim position. He has done several location and international training focusing communication, PR, project management from Sri Lanka, Singapore, Egypt, Pakistan and so on. Ifthekhar has consistent track record of success working in strategic positions and possess a thorough understanding of Events, Consumer engagements, internal comms and corporate communications areas. He processes special skills and was one of the veteran in structuring Public Relations in the organisation he worked. He lead the operations and marketing and payed a vital role in lifting of the most successful Bangla movie ever “Aynabaji”. He drove the entire project and showed how far a film can go if its get proper marketing mix with the hint of project management. The promotion in all marketing windows has already been listed as an example for bangladeshi film in home and abroad. Tagging along with Taneem, Ifthekhar has eyeing to build a structured place for movies from subcontinent to international boarders. They are working relentlessly to give the actual mile to prospective movies and reach as much audience as possible.
Wahid Siddique - The Geek
Wahid Siddique is an IT specialist, entrepreneur and filmmaker with over 20 years of experience in the field. He studied business with a touch of IT genius at the very beginning of the IT era in Bangladesh, just when it was gaining recognition, where he discovered how to apply a technological approach to any sorts of businesses to ease work done and reduce human error. Always looking for opportunities, Wahid held on to some key skillsets throughout the years, few of the many include having a vast experience over many different IT platforms, upfront and positive attitude, creative and flexible mindset, versatile and innovative ideas and most importantly honesty and passion in his work.With almost over half of his life spent working abroad, Wahid Siddique has gained some notable work titles under his belt. He started his career in Dubai where he worked under various prestigious companies before moving to Australia to transition from a tech guru to an overall solution architect. He has notably worked for renowned companies such as Vodafone, Quickcomm, Oxfam Australia, RSPCA in leading positions and accumulated a massive technological arsenal at his disposal. He is currently leading a band of tech enthusiasts under the moniker Krazy IT, which is a rapidly growing IT solutions company influenced by the fluctuating trend of both media and the fast paced technological shift in the current world. Through an association of Krazy tickets, Wahid stumbled upon his younger school-mate Taneem from long past and by working together, they discovered a common ground and felt the need to arm BongOz with an advanced IT block, noting the start of what would later come to be an essential team-up with potential to bring about great things in the future. Wahid holds a keen interest to create, promote and distribute high caliber Bengali films in a foreign market which will not only allow the rich cultural backgrounds of Bangladesh to be showcased, but also make way for young and talented film-makers to finally make a change, this being an important and passionate interest for him, helped create the dream-team that we see between Wahid and Taneem today..
